Hamlet- Act1, Scene 5

After listening to the ghost, Hamlet found that his suspicion of his uncle is true for the ghost's words. And Hamlet's father actually is betrayed by his uncle, who sets him up by pouring the poison into his father's ears. Upon learning this, Hamlet also is betrayed by his mother lately who shows the affection and happiness with his uncle and is especially his dearest and nearest family. Therefore, it causes him to be hard to trust someone else even though Horatio and Marcellus are his scholar and soldier. However, he changes his mind later since he might think that they are not his mother but truly his good friends. He would like to give himself a chance to trust them again so he asks them to swear by his sword. And the voice of the ghost from the ground appears telling them to "swear." It makes Hamlet feels a great power protecting him from fear, which this power supports him in an unexpected moment. Later, he becomes fearless in showing what he has seen. As Hamlet finally says to them at the end of this scene,
"So, gentleman,
With all my love I do commend me to you;
And what so poor a man as Hamlet is
May do t'express his love and friending to you," (I.5.201-204)

These lines somehow show that Hamlet's belief and trust have transformed to his good friends but not for the dearest mother. The above is just my points of view.

Diary:
     This scene actually is quite dramatic in my opinion. We can see that the ghost eagerly expects Hamlet to revenge to his death. It actually affects Hamlet's behaviors and emotion very much. I think the most interesting part is the struggle and disappointment for making decision between family and good friends by Hamlet. According to the ethics, parents plays an essential role in royal family. However, Hamlet confronts with the difficulty when making the decision to tell the secret. Family surely is much important and staunch in trust for royalty. But Hamlet is betrayed by his mother. He chooses to tell the secret by telling to his good friends, Horatio and Marcellus. So I think Shakespeare somehow indicates the public's blindness in social class and the corruption behind the royal family in trust.
