Sing for Jean Chou

Formal essay: 100/3/16
Yesterday we had an English oral class for the debate. And we had to prepare for the content of it. Before we did our topic for debating, teacher presented some skills and methods to us. She also showed the film related to the debate which could inspire us more effectively. Everyone in the class showed themselves by presenting or controverting their thoughts and opinions with their respect and serious attitudes. Some presented their speech pretty long and repetitive; others merely read their drafts words by words. Actually, if we followed the methods above, it wouldn't do us any good for our English oral ability. To my surprise, one of my good friends, Jean, who presented the affirmative side to us for the topic─ Plastic Surgery, was so natural and explicit in her way of expressing.
You know when you get accustomed to listening to the debate for more serious and respect way, it will get you boring or even asleep. Since they followed the pattern of tradition and stuck in such kind of status, they couldn't stride for a further step in creating the style by themselves, which meant, they were restrained by the debate formality. However, Jean’s presentation was completely wonderful for her way of speaking. She used very clear and simple words to let everyone understand her viewpoint. With her tone of speaking, she dealt with the speech context splendidly. In addition, she got her confidence overflowing with spontaneous attitude. She even applied hypothesis to trigger the mentality from audience. For these reasons, I absolutely thought she kind of implanted the spirit of debate for her performance. But it was quite a pity that Jean didn’t make a speech for her thoughts, but her issue in refutation and the pattern of present were to the point and even break new ground.
When Jean finished debating, I just got a shine in her eye. And I still can feel thrilled about it!
